FAQs
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy can be beneficial for EVERYONE. You don’t have to be in crisis or have a mental health diagnosis. All you need is a willingness to learn, be challenged, and explore. If you’re unsure, you can schedule a free consultation so we can further discuss your needs.
It’s also helpful to know that therapy often isn’t a linear, finite process. Healing from trauma is often an ongoing, lifelong process that requires learning and unlearning negative beliefs and habits. Therapy provides a structured, supportive space to do this work.

Do you accept insurance?
I am out-of-network with most insurance providers. At this time I accept LyraHealth, Spring Health and Modern Health. However, I can provide a superbly that you can submit your insurance provider for reiumbursement. There are limited sliding scale spots available for $30-$50 with our therapist-in-training. Sliding scale fees are determined based on individual financial circumstances.
Why don’t you accept insurance?
I accept limited insurances so that I can offer the best possible care without interference. Insurance companies often get over-involved in the course of treatment by limiting the number of sessions, requiring a mental health diagnosis, or dictating what type of care you “should” receive. By staying private-pay, I can focus on what’s best for you, without worrying about fitting you into a diagnostic box.
What can I expect from the first session?
The first session is normally the intake session in which I get to learn more about you. I will do a full biopsychosocial assessment in which I gather history about your presenting issues, health, family, and treatment history. This may take from 1-1.5 hours to complete. From there, we can determine appropriate treatment goals and next steps.
